GSACCC successfully completed its 2nd Annual Banquet on January 30, in downtown San Antonio. GSACCC visioned a Bridge Builder award to brand its mission of connecting the business interest between this region and China.  Mayor Julian presented the awards to seven local organizations who provided great assistance to GSACCC's mission. Check the GSACCC Gallery for activity pictures.

The 2nd Annual Banquet by GSACCC took place on January 30, 2010 night at the historic venue of Sheraton Gunter Hotel in downtown San Antonio, treating 200 local business leaders and political dignitaries, including Mayor Castro and Councilwoman Elisa Chan, to fine food, fellowship, and genuine dialogues to explore opportunities to strengthen partnership and building business ties with China that contribute to the prosperity both in the United States and China. The banquet attendees were entertained by Michael Hu and Maria Ng, the witty and energetic emcees of the evening. Mayor Julian Castro greeted the attendees with an inspirational address emphasizing the opportunities that lie beneath the current economic recession. Mayor Castro expressed the City’s commitment to supporting GSACCC’s effort in deepening business ties between the local business communities and the Chinese market. He added that as China rises as an economic powerhouse, many companies in the Greater San Antonio area stand to benefit from the strong economic growth in China.

Charlie Zhao, the out-going GSACCC Chairman, and Yan Yan, the outgoing GSACCC President, lauded GSACCC’s achievements in the past two years in promoting economic cooperation between the local business community and the Chinese enterprises. GSACCC facilitated a number of Chinese business delegations to visit San Antonio, while organizing some local business executives to travel to China. Both Zhao and Yan encouraged the banquet attendees to become a GSACCC member to enjoy the GSACCC member benefits.

Jerry Jin, the incoming GSACCC President, challenged the attendees to help him run GSACCC with new ideas and new solutions. How could he describe San Antonio without referencing Spurs who played against Yao Ming? Jin announced that his focus in the new year is to help build the economic bridge between San Antonio and China’s ever-expanding market leveraging such opportunities as 2010 Shanghai Expo. He added that GSACCC will provide a platform for local business communities and the eager Chinese business leaders to boost bilateral economic ties.

To acknowledge the dedication of local organizations who have tireless worked to promote business ties between San Antonio and China, GSACCC President Jin named seven organizations as the recipients of the GSACCC Bridge Builder award, and Mayor Castro presented the awards. The representatives to receive the awards are Dr. Donald Lien from the Confucius Institute of UTSA, Dr. Patricia Watkins from the University of Incarnate Word, Weiwei Wu of Free Trade Alliance, Ms Elizabeth Costello from City of San Antonio International Affairs Department, Ms. Berenice Carmona of International Trade Center, Mr. Jorge Caravati of Port San Anotnio, and Dr. David Estes of Our Lady of the Lake University.

The Banquet hosts kept the evening’s most fun activities as the last program – the highly anticipated door prizes worth more than $3000 in value. Many of the the happy door prize winners are featured in our gallery. The GSACCC 2nd Annual Banquet was an extraordinary gathering of the enthusiastic and accomplished local business leaders and dignitaries. The remarkable energy of learning and desire to build partnership demonstrated at the banquet inspired GSACCC leadership team to take the next step in building bridges in 2010.
