Confucius Institute at UTSA The Confucius Institute at UTSA was approved by The Confucius Institute Headquarters (Beijing, China) and Texas Board of Regent in November 2009. The mission of the Confucius Institute is to promote Chinese language instruction, appreciation of Chinese culture, and understanding of Chinese history and society. The Confucius Institute helps build a bridge between China and the U.S., especially in the Texas region in terms of promoting awareness of multiculturalism and cultural and educational exchange. Confucius Institute at UTSA is proud to partner with The University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) at Beijing, China. An Introduction to UIBE UIBE was founded in 1951 as the Beijing Institute of Foreign Trade. In 1960 it was designated as a "key university" by the government for its outstanding programs. In May 1997 UIBE was put on the list of "Project 211" universities, a governmental program aimed at turning about 100 Chinese universities into exceptionally high quality academic institutions in the new century. In 2000, UIBE was merged with the China Institute of Finance and consequently reinforced its status as one of the leading academic institutions specializing in the fields of economics, business, insurance, management, finance, law, and international trade. Today, UIBE is one of the most sought after academic institutions in China, a place of study for China's most talented students; its prime aim is to equip students not only with professional competency and superior analytical skills, but also independent thinking, excellent multi-lingual communication skills, and a global outlook and awareness. UIBE Student Artist Troupe is one of the leading university performance troupes in China with elite student members majoring in economics, including finance and other areas. The troupe toured and performed in six European countries, Greece, Germany, Italy, Austria, Hungary, and Czech in 2009. It was warmly received at every stop and had achieved tremendous success with its outstanding and professional performance. |
