DETROIT -- Toyota Motor Corp. is tapping the brakes on production of big pickups and sport-utility vehicles in its Texas and Indiana plants as part of a response to slowing demand for those types of trucks in the U.S. market.

As a first step, the Japanese company over the past several weeks has cut the pace of production of full-size Tundra pickup trucks and Sequoia SUVs at the Texas and Indiana plants, Toyota spokesman Mike Goss said Thursday. CPS Energy requesting rate hike to pay for new power-generating capacity PDF Print E-mail

CPS Energy is seeking a rate increase on customers' electric and gas bills in order to help foot the bill on several major power plant projects.

CPS Energy officials say the proposed rate increases are necessary to keep pace with San Antonio's energy needs. If adopted by the utility's board of trustees and ultimately City Council, monthly utility bills would go up nearly 5 percent. This translates to an additional $6 or $7 per month on a typical residential customer's bill.
